Meyer Sound, my leap up from the rest...

The first time I heard about Meyer Sound was when I was at Yoshi in Oakland, CA watching Ottmar Liebert in concert. The sound was amazing and what impressed me the most was when I got up to get a drink from the bar, the sound did not change as I move from my spot to the bar. The 2nd time I really have a chance to hear what Meyer speakers can do was during the recording and mixing session with Vince Welnick (The Tube, Greatful Deads) at Expression for New Media. I was using a pair of HD-1 for near fields and X-10 Phase Corrected mid field studio monitors.
Fast forward to now, I finally had a chance to work with Meyer Sound as a sound designer for Vietnam market. I knew I was in for a tough assigment due to the flood of cheap JBL, EV, EAW, and god forbid... Bose loud speakers in Vietnam for so many years. Despite the difficulty at hand, I knew and had faith in sooner or later Vietnam will come to its senses and start to demand more in the quality of their theaters, concert hall, clubs, and especially concert stadium. To tackle Vietnam market is not hard, to learn the science behind all the Meyer Sound concepts of sound, now that is hard. I knew it will not be easy for the fact that Meyer Sound School and training schedule will last a whole year.
Classes and seminars are held all over the world, from Berkley, CA to Nigeria...yes Nigeria.
It had been over 6 months for me already and one of my stop is in Berkley this month. Oh boy did I have to dig up my calculus book for this system design class, math, math, and more math.
Picture was taken in the Pearson theater (http://www.meyersound.com/news/2006/pearsontheatre/) during one of our break. Next stop Vietnam and Spain.
